Ways to Eat Well for Less
Check out these tips on how to eat well for less:
Plan Ahead: before shopping take some time to plan your healthy meals and snacks for the week
Write a Shopping List: this will help you avoid getting drawn into unnecessary purchases, which may end up getting thrown away
Use your Freezer: cooked too much? Freeze leftovers for a convenient lunch in a few days time. Why not try batch cooking when you have some free time? Freeze into portions, so you have a quick meal ready for when you’re busy
Choose Seasonal Produce: seasonal fruit and vegetables are often cheaper, fresher and more flavourful
Use Up Ingredients: meals like omelettes, stews and soups are a healthy and filling way to use up leftover items and reduce food waste
Cook from Scratch: making dishes from scratch can be much more cost efficient and you can make them more nutritious too. Homemade tomato sauce is a great place to start and can be used as a base for lots of different dishes
Go Plant Forward: try having a few meat free meals throughout the week. Vegetarian sources of protein like eggs, beans, chickpeas and lentils are a cheap and delicious alternative to meat
