Mindful Snacking

Mindful snacking involves eating with intention to improve enjoyment and digestion by eliminating distractions, checking hunger levels, and using all senses to appreciate food.

Healthy snacking is a great way to fuel the body and mind with nutrients during the day and helps keep our energy levels steady.

Take a look at our tips for mindful snacking:

Try to remove distractions - turn off the tv, put down the phone and be present while eating so that you can relax and enjoy your food in the moment

Reflect on your thoughts and feelings - take a moment and ask yourself how you feel. Are you hungry? Or thirsty? Are you stressed or bored? This can help you become more aware of emotional triggers

• Engage your senses - observe the colours, smells, and textures of your food before and during eating

• Slow down when eating - eating food too quickly can prevent our bodies from recognising when we are full

• Listen to your body - and recognise when you have had enough
